Data Protection and Privacy Policy of the Northeast Rural Connected Institute (INERUC)
This document presents the Data Protection and Privacy Policy of the Northeast Rural Connected Institute – INERUC. Its purpose is to establish, clearly and transparently, the guidelines applicable to the processing of personal data carried out by the organization within the scope of its institutional activities.
The Northeast Rural Connected Institute (INERUC) is a non-profit civil society organization that works to promote digital inclusion, media literacy, combating misinformation, community communication, rural entrepreneurship, sustainable development, access to technologies, strengthening citizenship, and defending human rights in rural communities.
In compliance with the General Personal Data Protection Law (LGPD), Law No. 13.709, of August 14, 2018, INERUC reaffirms its commitment to the protection of privacy, freedom of expression, information security, and the rights of personal data subjects.
Under no circumstances will personal data processed by INERUC be sold or used for profit. Any data sharing will occur only when necessary for compliance with legal obligations, project execution, event hosting, accountability to funders, or other legitimate purposes compatible with the organization’s institutional activities, always observing the principles of purpose, adequacy, necessity, transparency, and security.
To facilitate the understanding of this document, we present in an organized manner the collected data, the processing purposes, the rights of the subjects, and the procedures adopted by INERUC for the protection of personal information under its responsibility.
At the end of this policy, we indicate the contact channels for requests related to data protection and the rules applicable to future updates of this document.
1. WHAT DATA WE COLLECT
Through the website, registration forms, or to enable participation in projects, research, courses, workshops, events, and other activities promoted by the Northeast Rural Connected Institute (INERUC), the most frequently collected data are:

- Phone number.
Less frequently, we collect the IP address used by you to access our website or digital platforms.
INERUC does not collect sensitive personal data, as defined in item II of article 5 of the General Personal Data Protection Law (LGPD), unless there is a specific legal basis or express consent from the data subject.

1.2 Participants of Projects, Research, Courses, Workshops, Events, and Campaigns
When INERUC promotes projects, research, courses, workshops, events, campaigns, or other public interest initiatives related to its institutional mission, the data strictly necessary to enable the participation of interested individuals may be collected.
Depending on the activity developed, the following may be requested: Full name, Email address, Phone number, CPF (when necessary for administrative purposes, certification, scholarship payments, accountability, or compliance with legal obligations).
The collected data will be used exclusively for the purposes informed at the time of collection and for the period necessary for the activity, observing applicable legal and regulatory obligations.
1.3 Institutional Partners, Collaborators, and Representatives
INERUC works in coordination with civil society organizations, universities, social movements, collectives, public institutions, funders, and other partners. To enable this joint effort, INERUC may maintain contact lists, working groups, and communication channels.
2. STORAGE
Your personal data will be kept only for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Data Protection Policy and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

In accordance with the General Personal Data Protection Law (LGPD), you have several rights related to your personal data. Under article 18 of the LGPD, personal data subjects have the following rights:

- Request access to personal data held by INERUC;

4. DATA OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS
INERUC does not habitually carry out activities directed exclusively at children and adolescents. When necessary, the collection and processing of data will be carried out with the specific consent of parents or legal guardians.
